We’re super excited to announce that Greenwork is now a member of Advanced Energy Economy (AEE), a trade association that helps speed up the transition to 100% clean energy and electrified transportation, to create prosperity and stop climate change.

Since 2011, AEE has been educating and fighting across multiple levels of government — federal, state, and regulatory — to pass policies that support modernizing our energy system. They’ve been staunch supporters of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the Build Back Better Act, state-level Renewable Portfolio Standards, and other policies that help grow the advanced energy sector.

AEE publishes excellent research and data to help the industry measure its success and tell positive stories. That data also helps companies understand the utility and regulatory environment and improve their business operations.

We’re particularly happy that AEE has shown a commitment to the workers on the ground by launching Advanced Energy Works, giving tradespeople a voice in the halls of government.

In joining Advanced Energy Economy, we’re joining a group of over 100 companies we’re so proud to be associated with. We’re looking forward to partnering with companies at the heart of the infrastructure transition like Schneider Electric, NRG, and Sunrun, cleantech startups that have brought revolutionary new technologies to market like Rivian, Arcadia Power, and Enphase, and technologies companies that are leading on sustainability like Microsoft and Apple.

On a personal note, I’m really happy to be back in the AEE family! I actually worked at AEE on the Industry Analysis team as a data scientist in 2011 and 2012, and my dad Tom Steyer is a Co-Founder of the group. I’m happy to report that AEE today is unrecognizably larger, more formidable, and better than it was when I left in August 2012!

As members of AEE, Greenwork will support policies that:

1. Create more good jobs

2. Invest in workers’ education, opportunity, and well-being

We cheered the passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and we currently support the Build Back Better Act. We’re particularly excited about creating a national Civilian Climate Corps and expanding funding for community colleges to make them free or very affordable.

As a country, we desperately need more skilled tradespeople and technical frontline workers. When Americans rise to the challenge of filling these jobs, we should make their education as good and as cheap as possible; it will pay off for us as a society ten-fold. We support all expansions of workers’ rights. Infrastructure work is complex, dangerous, and vital. The people doing it deserve to be safe and well-paid.

Greenwork succeeds by partnering with companies, schools, and governments to support their success. We help companies that are growing fast hire more talent, so we benefit when advanced energy companies are thriving and growing. We help trade schools and workforce development programs place their graduates in jobs, so we benefit when they have more students, better curriculum, and higher graduation rates. We help all the stakeholders involved accomplish public goals like raising average incomes and lowering carbon emissions, which are key KPIs for government (or, in a few governments cases, aren’t, but should be). We view joining coalitions like AEE to advocate for policy that will help our partners succeed as core to our business and our mission.

We’re excited to get started!

Sam
